This year, the University of King’s College Chapel Choir and its director, Paul Halley, have programmed two featured pieces to celebrate All Saints and All Souls Day to open their annual King’s at the Cathedral concert series. The two pieces have a 400-year span in between them; the first is a requiem, the Missa pro defunctis, or Mass for the dead, written by Cristóbal de Morales in 1544. The second piece will be a completion of their performance cycle of the three canonic 20th-century mass settings for unaccompanied choir. The choir will perform the third setting with the Mass in G major by Francis Poulenc (1937).

Tickets range from $10 to $100, including tax, and are available at Ticket Halifax (902.422.6278) and from the King’s Co-op Bookstore (902.422.1270 ext. 261).
